Douglas Emerson, PT, DPT, OCS, CMP, SFMA is a regional director for Howard Head Sports Medicine in the Vail and Roaring Fork Valleys of beautiful Colorado. Over the last 19 years in practice Doug has had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings as a traveling physical therapist. He has seen practices all over the country and brings a unique perspective to the House of Delegates. After working for both private practices and hospital systems, Doug can understand the difficulties and struggles that each have, and how legislation effects these entities. Being part of the APTA House of Delegates is a great opportunity to shape the future of physical therapy across the country through the creation of policies and strategies. With an eagerness to develop and grow those around him, Doug is excited for the chance to better our profession and make a lasting impact. Doug is eager to take on the responsibilities of the APTA House of Delegates. He envisions a future where physical therapists thrive professionally, and patients receive the highest quality care, and he is excited about the opportunity to contribute to this vision. Identify and describe current or previous leadership positions and/or work experiences that make you qualified for this position:
I am currently a regional director for Howard Head Sports Medicine. I oversee three outpatient orthopaedic clinics as well as our CHT program. I was a spine mentor for our sports residency program and have a hand in various other projects throughout our clinics. I have been in this role for the last 10 years. Prior to my current position I have had the opportunity to be a director of rehabilitation through Banner Health and have managed smaller outpatient practices. I have a thirst for growth and leadership development that I bring to my staff and my fellow directors.
