Dr. Marc Phillips, PT, DPT, Board Certified in Orthopedics

Dr. Phillips is running for Director at Large - Practice Director in the 2023 APTA Colorado Elections.

I have been a practicing PT for the past 15+ years in Colorado Springs and a PT business owner for the past 10 years. I am board certified in Orthopedics and have an interest in moving the profession forward, and specifically helping support private practices as I believe they are struggling to survive in the current climate. I have experience as a business owner, business consultant, PTA school instructor and practicing PT that will help me represent many different viewpoints.

Identify and describe current or previous leadership positions and/or work experiences that make you qualified for this position:
  • Secretary, Advisory board at Pikes Peak State University PTA program
  • Business owner/Regional Director over 7 clinic locations and 35+ staff members
  • AASPT Colorado state Representative

What strengths do you bring to the Colorado Chapter and what strengths would you bring to the position you are running for?
My experience in business ownership and management would be a valuable asset to help represent the needs of other private practice owners. My knowledge of the profession gleaned from working in different positions will help me to represent a lot of different perspectives.

What are weaknesses of the Colorado Chapter and what improvements would you like to make?
The CO chapter lacks significant engagement from certain groups of PT/PTA's in the state, specifically newer practitioners. I want to offer increased, meaningful opportunities for all PT/PTA's and include students in PT and PTA programs. Some examples are to offer courses on patient management for the new practitioner, mental wellness for healthcare workers, and help with financial planning and assistance for those with significant student loans.
