Dr. Tyler Luke, PT, DPT, OCS

Dr. Luke is running for Director at Large - Practice Director in the 2023 APTA Colorado Elections.

Dr. Tyler Luke is the current Practice Director for the APTA Colorado Chapter. During the past two years, Tyler has served on multiple committees with goals to increase membership engagement, growth of members in the chapter, improving revenue for the chapter, and expanding influence at the legislative level. Currently, Tyler is the Chair of the Sunset Committee, with the goal of expanding and protecting the physical therapy scope of practice in Colorado. He works closely with chapter executive board members and lobbyists to achieve these goals, and improve the profession throughout the state.

Identify and describe current or previous leadership positions and/or work experiences that make you qualified for this position:
Currently, I am fortunate to serve in the following positions:
  • CO APTA Practice Director
  • CO APTA Sunset Committee Chair
  • CO PT PAC President
In the past, I have held the following positions:
  • TN APTA Knoxville District Chair
  • TN PT PAC Vice-Chair

What strengths do you bring to the Colorado Chapter and what strengths would you bring to the position you are running for?
I am a passion believer and advocate for the physical therapy profession. This drive has led me to be elected as a current CO APTA Board member, with the ability to enact change for all physical therapists in Colorado. As part of such a strong team, I have been able to help with efforts to make our profession and scope of practice better for all PTs and PTAs. If I am re-elected, I will further use my experience as the Sunset Committee Chair and PT PAC President to influence change with legislators. I believe this experience will have a very positive impact on how physical therapy is seen and how we are governed with our new practice act.

What are weaknesses of the Colorado Chapter and what improvements would you like to make?
As a current Board member, I am able to see the issues within the chapter with more information than most. Overall membership numbers are one of the biggest challenges we are facing. Less membership equates to less funding for the chapter, and these funds are critical to push forward and make our initiatives successful. I have been a strong advocate within the chapter to increase outreach to members and non-members to show the true value of an APTA membership.
