Dr. Griffith is running for President in the 2023 Board Elections.

Dr. Rebekah Griffith is a physical therapist who specializes in care in the Emergency Department and ICU settings. She believes that physical therapy should not be a luxury and should be accessible to everyone, particularly in life’s most critical moments. Identify and describe current or previous leadership positions and/or work experiences that make you qualified for this position:

My leadership journey within APTA Colorado began as a student and has continued to the present. Below is a list of APTA Colorado leadership experiences I have gained over the past 18 years:

  • Class APTA Rep
  • SSIG Governmental Affairs Rep
  • CO PT-PAC Chair
  • Co-Chair Fundraising Committee
  • Founder of CAReSIG, Secretary & Education Coordinator
  • COPD Pathways Task Force
  • Colorado Delegate At Large
  • Chief Delegate
  • Western States Caucus Chair
  • APTA Colorado Centennial Scholar
  • DEI Committee Member
These varied experiences specifically within the APTA Colorado Component have allowed me to see many aspects of how the chapter functions and to gain experience with many different aspects of the profession. I believe that my APTA service as a Chief Delegate has also prepared me to understand how APTA Colorado can leverage the strengths of APTA National as well. My professional leadership experiences to date have focused on multi-disciplinary quality improvement initiatives which I believe is also crucial to the role of APTA Colorado President in collaborating with other healthcare professionals in our region.

What strengths do you bring to the Colorado Chapter and what strengths would you bring to the position you are running for?

The strengths that I bring to this position include a growth mindset, drive, efficiency, collaboration, networking, empowering others, an ability to multi-task, flexibility, and innovation.

What are weaknesses of the Colorado Chapter and what improvements would you like to make?

Areas for improvement in the Colorado Chapter include limited member engagement and growth. I'd like to see the Colorado Chapter providing an inclusive and active environment for all student, PT, and PTA members that provides the support and resources needed for these professionals. We continue to be successful in our lobbying efforts and are beginning to make progress in the areas of DEI and new professional growth. I look forward to continuing these efforts if selected for this role.
