Join the APTA Colorado Pediatric SIG for a brand new course in pediatric foot management! Learn how to assess and support foot and ankle development and fabricate custom foot orthoses!

Lecture Objectives: After attending the lecture portion of this course attendees will...
- Understand typical development of pediatric foot and need for specific assessment skills
- Identify when to intervene with orthotic intervention for pediatric patients
- Improve knowledge and decision-making regarding types of orthoses – specifically foot orthoses
- Incorporate assessment and intervention for the pediatric foot into treatment planning for patients from toddler to adolescence
Lab Objectives: After attending the lab portion of this course attendees will…
- Learn specific hands-on foot and ankle assessment skills to help identify appropriate orthotic intervention
- Practice fabrication of aquaplast UCBs with close guidance from instructor
- Perform customization of foot orthoses
CEUs: 4 hours for lecture only, 8 for lecture + lab
Speaker: Nicole Harris, PT, MPT, PCS, BOCO has been a pediatric physical therapist for 20 years and is the foot management program coordinator at Children’s Hospital Colorado (CHCO). She specializes in treating children with cerebral palsy as well as ITW, orthotics, splinting and casting for pediatric patients. Ms. Harris is a BOCO orthotist and a Pediatric Clinical Specialist. Ms. Harris has done multiple presentations regarding resistance training service delivery models, dynamic bracing, gastroc management and idiopathic toe walking for different organizations in Colorado as well as state, national and international conferences. Ms. Harris is dedicated to advancing clinical practice to improve outcomes for pediatric patients. Her free time is spent enjoying the adventures of life with her family in Colorado.
